Y6 – Y7 – Y8 – Y9 – Y10

Trial Group (Basic)

Trial structure for Y6–Y10 students who are not yet fluent in Italian.
We’ll assess whether they can benefit from learning in a supportive group environment, with 1-hour lessons focused on building confidence, basic grammar, and core communication skills.
We may propose alternative paths after the trial if needed.

How Our Class Works

Student Portrait

Who it's for

This group is designed for children who cannot yet follow a lesson entirely in Italian and are not confident speaking.
Some may have studied a little before, others may be beginners.
The aim is to build a solid foundation in understanding, speaking, vocabulary, and grammar, with support in English when needed.
Depending on how the group works together, we may suggest continuing or propose a different path or setting that better supports each child’s learning.

A supportive environment

Lessons will gradually increase exposure to Italian, but teachers will also use simple English explanations to help students follow instructions and build confidence.
We prioritise emotional safety, low-pressure participation, and language activities that are fun, clear, and achievable.
The goal is to help students begin speaking and understanding Italian at their own pace.
We will always be honest with families if we feel this group is or isn’t the right match for your child.

Building language skills

Lessons focus on key beginner skills:

  • understanding basic instructions,

  • using simple vocabulary and phrases,

  • recognising common grammar patterns.

Activities include games, structured conversation, listening and reading, and building confidence in speaking.
At the end of the trial, we will advise whether your child is ready to continue or whether a different setting, pace or format might be more beneficial.
All decisions are made in the best interest of your child’s progress.
