Yes — absolutely. You don’t need any prior knowledge of Italian. We’ll start from scratch and guide you step by step.
This is the first of three parts (20 of 60 hours total) designed to take you from A1 to A2 level. By the end of this term, you’ll be able to:
• greet people and introduce yourself
• give and ask for personal details (name, origin, phone number, age, profession)
• handle basic conversations in cafés, shops, and restaurants
• express preferences and talk about likes/dislikes
• pronounce common sounds clearly
You’ll also start to understand the basics of Italian grammar and sentence structure.
How much you achieve depends on how ready you are to get involved and give it a go — we offer plenty of speaking practice from day one, because breaking the ice early makes all the difference.
Yes — all core materials are included. We’ll use:
• Nuovo Espresso 1 Plus (book + digital)
• Dimmi di più A1, a conversation-focused book by tutor Giulia Pedrazzi
Extra materials created by LearnIt Cambridge and your course tutor (e.g. Cosima Ticali for the January course)
Group size is small and capped at 12 students, so you’ll get plenty of personal attention and time to speak.
We follow the CEFR framework (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages), which means progression is structured and transparent:
A1 → A2 → B1 → B2 → C1 → C2.
The Beginners’ course takes you through A1, giving you a solid foundation in pronunciation, core grammar, and everyday communication. At the end of the course, we assess your progress and advise you on the most suitable next step, usually an A2 course or a tailored alternative depending on your goals.
As you progress, we don’t just move you through levels mechanically. We also offer additional activities and formats, including conversation-focused sessions and cultural content (music, short texts, films, current affairs), which help many learners consolidate faster and move more confidently from one level to the next.
In parallel, we provide personalised guidance on how to learn Italian more efficiently outside class—what to practise, how to practise, and where to focus your time. This often makes progression smoother and quicker, especially from A2 upwards.
In short: the levels give structure, but the way you move through them is guided, flexible, and tailored to you.
You’ll get access to the materials for that lesson so you can catch up.
If you know in advance that you'll miss a lesson, we can try to organise a catch-up session that falls in the same week as the lesson you are going to miss (subject to availability).
Unfortunately, we can’t refund or reschedule missed classes.
To reserve a spot, you need to pay a £50 deposit. This confirms your place and means you’ve accepted our Terms & Conditions.(https://www.learnitcambridge.co.uk/terms-and-conditions-for-adult-courses)
Courses are confirmed in person when at least 6 students enrol.
If fewer sign up, we may offer an online version instead. If that doesn’t suit you, you’ll get a full refund — no problem.
If the course is confirmed, you’ll be asked to pay the remaining fee before the first lesson. If we don’t receive payment by then, you may lose your place and your deposit.
Yes — you have a 14-day cooling-off period from the date of payment (deposit or full fee). After that, cancellations are non-refundable — unless you find someone to take your place.
